Untreated C16 timber is a type of structural timber commonly used in construction projects. The ‘C16’ designation refers to its strength grade, which is lower than that of C24 timber.

This means it has a slightly lower load-bearing capacity and may have more knots or imperfections. Despite this, untreated C16 timber is still a reliable and cost-effective choice for many non-critical structural applications, such as internal floor joists or stud work.

However, since it’s untreated, it doesn’t have the same level of resistance to rot or insect damage as treated timber, so it’s not typically recommended for outdoor use unless it’s given a suitable protective treatment.
